45 000 Children Risk Being Denied Secondary Education In Cameroon

With less than one week to the start of the 2019/2020 academic year, 45 000 children in Cameroon's Far North region risk being denied access to secondary education because of lack of birth certificates.

The Far North regional civil status registration unit has established that 45 000 potential form one students in the region lack birth certificates.

The Far North region has the highest birth rate in Cameroon and ranks lowest in terms of civil birth registration.

According to Mimi Mefo info, observers argue that the situation is due to the lack of health units in most localities of the region which gives room for most children to be delivered at home.
