BOMB EXPLOSION IN MAROUA ON MAY 20TH EVE

 

   At least five persons have died and 25 others severely injured in an explosion at the Pong Vert neighbourhood of Maroua, Far North Region of Cameroon.
   According to National Telegraph, the incident occurred on Sunday May 19, 2019 at about 8pm. This happens on National day Eve at a time when Cameroon prepares to celebrate amidst threats to its Unity.
   It is reported that one person died on the spot and 25 others who were severely wounded were rushed to the emergency unit of the Maroua Regional Hospital.
   However, It remains uncertain who is behind the explosion, even though unidentified sources say it resulted from a grenade thrown by a police officer.
   Nevertheless, many Cameroonians have been calling for a boycott of the National day commentation 2019, due to the deepening socio- political challenges in the North West and South West regions of the Country.
