South Africa: Ramaphosa sworn in as President

Cyril Ramaphosa has been sworn into office on Saturday May 25, 2019 as South Africa's president before leaders of the world and about 30,000 spectators in Pretoria, the nation's capital.
In his speech, he said; " I am humbled by the trust you have bestowed upon me and I also aware of the challenges our country faces, but I'm also alive to the fact that our people are filled with hope for a better tomorrow".
Mr. Ramaphosa's African National Congress (ANC) clinched a 57.5 per cent majority in a general election earlier in May, down from 6.2 per cent in 2014 as voters turned against the ruling party due to government corruption scandals and record unemployment.
He narrowly won the ANC leadership race in late 2017 and replaced scandal-plagued predecessor Jacob Zuma as state president in February 2018, a year before the latter's term was due to expire.
The party of Nelson Mandela remains in power with Ramaphosa's election, but it's grib on power has slipped. For the first time this year, the African National Congress (ANC) was less than 60 per cent of the vote.
To the ANC leader, the election results was "a resounding expression of the will of the people of South Africa". And while he was taking the oath of office, he said; "he wants an efficient, capable and ethical state".
