The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji has revealed that the government had already started the process of dialogue since two years ago and will continue on the pre- condition that they will not talk on the form of the state.
Speaking as a guest of Journal D'Afrique over France 24 on Friday May 17, 2019, he said;"It's a dialogue that began two years ago. We will talk of everything but we will not talk of the form of the state". Minister Atanga Nji reinterate on the fact that Cameroon is a one and indivisible country, which seeks to sustain peace for the good of all it's denizens.
Moreover, the minister emphasised on the fact that those who began strikes and protests in the North West and South West Regions had a hidden agenda and some are being tried in courts in the country. And equally that dialogue will happen with those who are ready for dialogue and not those who have soiled their hands with blood.
However, while defending reports of military atrocities in the Regions, the minister claimed the armed separatists are the ones responsible for schools shutdown, civilians attacked and properties burnt. He further accuses the International community for undermining abuses caused by these armed separatists.
Nevertheless, he claimed only 152,000 Cameroonians are internally displaced as a result of the ongoing crisis and that the government has already assisted 90,000 of these persons. He further said; " The approach of Human Rights is a conspiracy approach", which to him Human Rights Watch group was exaggerating statistics of deaths and IDPs in order to lobby funds for the organisation. He ended his defense on the basis that Cameroon is a tolerant country, where everyone is free to express themselves.
