MUSLIMS COMMENCE FASTING FOR RAMADAN

Muslims worldwide are preparing for the commencement of the Holy period of Ramadan.
The unified date of the commencement is today Monday 6, 2019 given that the new moon was not sighted across the world.
According to reports on African news, the National chief Imam, Sheikh Dr.Osman Nuhu Sharubutu of Nigeria has confirmed that the moon has not been sighted hence fasting begins on Monday 6, 2019.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is compulsory for all Muslims except those who are exempted like terminally ill, pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
Therefore, Muslims are encouraged to avoid gossip, arguments and fighting while they observe self-restraint, self-control and self- discipline during the month. They are also encouraged to engage in more charity work while they fast to bring them closer to God and remind them of the suffering of the fortunate.
